How self-healing works
The surface closes up behind the blade
Hard bench tops and rigid boards are gouged by every cut, and they blunt blades fast. Crystal-Seal is a solid, flexible PVC that parts around the knife and closes again as it passes, so the mat stays smooth, the next cut runs true and your blades last longer.
You may see faint lines on a well-used mat, but you will not feel them. And because the mat is 5mm thick and double-sided, there is a second working face waiting when the first has done its years of service.
