PVC Strip Curtains

Nine grades of strip. One for the job you have.

A strip curtain is only as good as the PVC in it. Polar for the freezer, ribbed for the forklift door, yellow for the kitchen, anti-static for the cleanroom. Every strip below is 200 mm wide, sold by length from 2 m to 5 m, and comes fitted with a stainless steel hanging plate.

  • Nine grades in stock
  • Hanging plate on every strip
  • Same-day dispatch before 12pm
  • Family-run since 1996

Every strip, and what it does

Which grade is your doorway asking for?

Each strip is 200 mm wide and supplied fitted with a stainless steel hanging plate, in lengths from 2 m to 5 m. Mix grades on one rail if the doorway needs it.

Not sure where to start? Ask our experts

The ribbed surface takes the wear from forklift and trolley contact, so a busy chilled doorway stays clearer for longer.

Want it done for you?

Buy the whole doorway as a kit.

If you are fitting a doorway from scratch, a door kit is faster: strips pre-cut to your height, the stainless steel rail to hang them from, and your choice of 50% or 100% overlap. Widths from 1000 to 2500 mm, heights from 2100 to 3000 mm.

Ready-to-hang door kits

Complete kits in standard, double-ribbed and polar grades, plus the insulated Koolshield curtain for cold stores.

Or build it from scratch

Rolls, hanging plates and rail.

For large, unusual or multiple doorways: buy the PVC by the 50 metre roll, cut your own strips, fit your own plates and hang them on our rail.

Choosing and counting

Which grade, and how many strips?

Pick the grade for the problem you have, then work out how many strips the opening needs. For a complete doorway with the rail included, the kit guide walks through grade, width, overlap and measuring in four steps.

  1. 1

    Pick the grade

Cold, insects, static, airflow, screening or zoning: the problem picks the PVC.

  2. 2

    Pick the length

    Strips come in 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 3.5 m, 4 m and 5 m. Choose the next length up from your opening height and trim.

  3. 3

    Count the strips

Work from the curtain width and the overlap you want.

  4. 4

    Add the rail

Each strip hooks onto a stainless steel suspension rail, sold separately by length.

Which grade for which problem

All nine are 200 mm wide and supplied with a hanging plate, so they hang on the same rail and can be mixed.

Ask us to confirm the specification for any formal requirement — cold-store temperature range, static dissipation or food contact.

How many strips do I need?

Overlap is how much of each strip its neighbour covers. At 50% overlap a 200 mm strip adds 100 mm of new width, so the count follows from the curtain width.

50% (standard)GoodInternal pedestrian and light-traffic doors at ambient temperature
100% (full)BestExternal doors, cold stores, windy locations and openings over about 3.5 m

Send us the opening size and the overlap you want and we will confirm the strip count before you order.

Measuring the opening

Measure the clear opening in millimetres, then add an allowance depending on how the rail is fixed.

FixingCurtain widthHeight
Face-fixed (rail on the wall)Opening width + 100–150 mm, so it overhangs 50–100 mm each sideOpening height plus an allowance so the rail sits above the door
In-reveal (rail inside the opening)The exact opening widthOpening height, with strips finishing just above the floor

Strips should just skim the floor. New strips are often curled from the roll and straighten out over a few days once hung.

Strips, a kit, or a roll?

Three ways to buy, depending on whether you are fitting a doorway from scratch or maintaining one.

If you want toBuyWhy
Replace worn strips, or pick a specialist gradeIndividual strips with hanging platesNine grades, each fitted with a plate: swap one strip or build a whole curtain
Fit a complete doorwayA door kitPre-cut strips and a stainless steel rail, ready to hang in your size and overlap
Cut your own, or fit a large or non-standard openingA 50 m rollTrim to length yourself for bulk and bespoke installations

Worked example: a 1000 mm wide opening, face-fixed, 50% overlap

A 1000 mm clear opening plus 50 mm of overhang each side gives a curtain 1100 mm wide. The first 200 mm strip covers 200 mm, and at 50% overlap each strip after it adds 100 mm — so 200 + (9 × 100) = 1100 mm, which is 10 strips. For a 2100 mm high door, order 2.5 m strips and trim them to skim the floor. Prefer it all in one box? The 200 × 2 Standard door kit covers this exact opening.

Hanging plate on every strip

Each strip arrives fitted to a slotted stainless steel hanging plate, so it hooks straight onto the rail. Replace one strip or build a whole curtain.

Grades for cold stores

Polar and chiller grades stay flexible where standard PVC would stiffen and crack, so a cold doorway keeps a barrier that still works at temperature.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How wide are the strips?

Every strip on this page is 200 mm wide. For 300 mm or 400 mm strip, see our door kits and PVC rolls, or ask us and we will quote.

What lengths can I get?

Strips are sold in 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 3.5 m, 4 m and 5 m. Choose the next length up from your opening height and trim them so they just skim the floor.

Do the strips come with fixings?

Yes. Every strip is supplied fitted with a stainless steel hanging plate, compatible with recognised curtain hanging systems. The suspension rail is sold separately.

Can I mix grades on one curtain?

Yes. All nine grades are the same 200 mm width on the same plate, so you can mix them on one rail — a line of clear with a coloured strip each side to mark the edges, for example.

Which grade for a cold room or freezer?

Polar or freezer grade for a freezer, chiller grade for a chiller or cool room. Both stay flexible at low temperature, where standard PVC stiffens and can crack. Tell us the temperature you are working at and we will confirm.

Do yellow anti-insect strips work?

They help. The yellow pigment filters the short-wavelength light that many flying insects navigate by, which makes the doorway less attractive to them, and the PVC is infused with citronella. Treat a strip curtain as one part of a pest-control routine rather than a barrier on its own.

Are PVC strip curtains food safe?

PVC strip curtains are widely used in food environments to separate zones and help keep pests out. For anything requiring certified food-contact material, ask us to confirm the grade before you order.

What is the difference between ribbed and plain?

The ribbed surface stands slightly proud, so repeated forklift and trolley contact wears the ribs rather than the flat face. In a busy doorway it stays clearer for longer; in a quiet one it is unnecessary.

Should I buy strips or a complete kit?

Buy strips to replace worn ones, to pick a specialist grade, or when you already have a rail. Buy a door kit when you are fitting a doorway from scratch and want the strips pre-cut with the rail included.

How do I clean them?

Wipe both faces with a soft cloth, mild detergent and warm water, then rinse and dry. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and strong solvents, which can cloud or degrade PVC.

When should I replace a strip?

Replace strips that have cracked or torn, especially at the top near the fixings, gone brittle, yellowed heavily or shifted so they no longer overlap correctly. Because each strip has its own plate, you can replace one without touching the rest.

Why are new strips curled?

They have been rolled for storage and transport. Once hung they straighten out over a few days.
