Choosing and measuring
How to measure
Matting is sold by the 10 metre roll, or cut from one in whole metres. Measure the floor, not the roll.
- 1Measure the length of floor you need to cover, in metres.
- 2Check the roll width covers it: wider floors take two runs side by side.
- 3Order that many whole metres, or a full roll if you need 10 m or more.
- 4Allow a little extra if you are trimming around machinery or doorways.
Which pattern do I need?
| You need | Best pattern | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Grip on a walkway or at a workstation | Fine ribbed (N11) | A fine fluted profile for underfoot traction |
| Grip and drainage in a busy entrance | Wide ribbed (N12) | Broad flutes grip and let water run off |
| Heavy-duty grip in wet or oily areas | 5 bar checkerplate (N28) | A raised checkerplate surface for maximum grip |
| Grip that copes with oil underfoot | Rhomboid checkerplate (N27) | A raised rhomboid pattern that grips in wet or oily conditions |
| A hard-wearing general purpose floor | Circular stud (N13) | The classic coin pattern, reliable in high traffic |
All five are the same NR/SBR rubber blend. The pattern decides the grip and the look; the thickness decides how much wear it takes.
Applications
- Wet or slippery floors
- Industrial walkways
- High-traffic commercial areas
- Safety flooring

Returns policyFrequently asked questions
How is matting sold?
As a 10 metre roll, or cut from a roll in whole metres from 1 to 10. A cut length is supplied as one continuous piece and carries a 10% uplift on the per metre price.
Why does a cut length cost more per metre?
Cutting a length off a roll takes labour and leaves a part roll behind, so cut lengths carry a 10% uplift on the per metre price. If you want a full 10 metres uncut, buy the roll instead: it works out cheaper.
Can I order more than 10 metres?
Ten metres is the longest length we cut. For more than that, order full rolls, or call us and we will quote a longer continuous run.
How thick should it be?
3 mm suits general walkways and workstations. 6 mm takes heavier traffic and lasts longer underfoot, where it is offered.
What is it made from?
A natural rubber and SBR blend, 70 degrees Shore A on most grades, rated minus 20 to plus 70 degrees C.
Is it anti-slip?
Yes. Every pattern here is a raised or fluted anti-slip profile; which one suits you depends on whether the floor is dry, wet or oily.
How quickly will it be dispatched?
Usually dispatched same day if ordered before 12:00pm and in stock. Cut lengths are made up before dispatch.
Do prices include VAT?
Prices are shown excluding VAT, with the price including VAT beneath. VAT is added at checkout.
