Why source gaskets through Crystal Rubber

Media, temperature, pressure, flange condition, bolt load: our team asks the right questions and recommends the material and thickness that will seal first time.

Gaskets supplied to EN 1514-1 and ASME B16.21 dimensions, or to your own drawing or sample, from a single gasket to production runs.

KLINGERSIL®, Novus, PTFE, graphite and semi-metallic gaskets from established manufacturers, with data sheets available on request.

Sealing specialists use the STAMP checklist, adding Speed for pump and valve packings. Share what you know and we will work out the rest with you.
Send us your STAMP detailsFlange standard, size and PN or Class, or a drawing or sample. For packings: shaft and stuffing box sizes.
Normal operating and peak temperatures, and any thermal cycling.
Pipe flange, heat exchanger, pump, valve or boiler, and the flange face and condition.
Exactly what is being sealed, with concentration: water, steam, oil, acid, gas or oxygen.
Working and test pressure, and vacuum if applicable.
Shaft speed, and whether the duty is rotary or reciprocating.
Choosing a material
| Material | Choose it for | Examples in the range |
|---|---|---|
| Compressed fibre sheet | General water, steam, oils, fuels and gases | KLINGERSIL® C-4400, Novus 34 |
| PTFE | Aggressive chemicals across the pH range; low bolt-load or glass-lined flanges | Novus Uniflon 50, 51, 53 |
| Graphite | High temperature and thermal cycling | Novus 49 Graftec, Maxigraph |
| Spiral wound & kammprofile | High pressure and temperature, heat exchangers, difficult flanges | Metaflex, Maxiprofile |
| Cork & cork-rubber | Light loads, uneven faces and anti-vibration | KLINGERSIL® C-4106, cork sheeting |
| Compression packing | Pump shafts and valve stems | Klinger 3222 graphite, 54F PTFE |
Compressed fibre sheet ratings depend on thickness: thinner gaskets generally handle higher temperatures and pressures. Maximum temperature and pressure do not apply together, so tell us your conditions and we will confirm the grade.

Standards
EN 1514-1
Dimensions of non-metallic flat gaskets for PN-designated flanges.
ASME B16.21
Non-metallic flat gaskets for Class-designated pipe flanges.
ASME B16.20
Spiral wound gaskets for Class flanges, with EN 1514-2 for PN flanges.
BS 7531
Jointing sheet grades rated to BS 7531, such as Novus 34 and C-4430 (Grade X).
WRAS
Listed jointing sheet grades for potable water, including Novus 34 and C-4430.
Approvals belong to the material grade. Check the individual product, or ask us to confirm it covers your application.
What our customers say
Questions
The flange standard and size (for example DN100 PN16, or 4" Class 150), or a drawing or sample; full face or ring; plus the media, temperature, pressure, thickness and quantity.
Yes. Send a DXF or PDF drawing, dimensions or a sample and we will supply gaskets cut to it in the material your joint needs.
It depends on the media, temperature, pressure and flange condition. Compressed fibre suits general service, PTFE aggressive chemicals, graphite high temperatures, and spiral wound or kammprofile high pressure and cycling. Send us the conditions and we will recommend a grade and thickness.
With compressed fibre sheet, thinner gaskets generally handle higher temperatures and pressures. Use the thinnest gasket the flange condition allows, commonly 1.5 mm or 2 mm, going thicker only for uneven flanges.
Yes. WRAS-listed jointing sheet grades such as Novus 34 and KLINGERSIL® C-4430 are available, and PTFE grades suit food and pharmaceutical service. Tell us the application so we can check the approval covers it.
Yes. Spiral wound gaskets are available to ASME B16.20 and EN 1514-2, in a choice of winding metals and graphite, PTFE or mica fillers, with inner and outer rings as required.
Tell us the equipment, shaft or stem diameter and stuffing box bore, the media, temperature, pressure and shaft speed. Packings are rated for maximum temperature, pressure and speed, but not all three at once.
Everything is supplied to order, from a single gasket to production runs, with lead times on your quote. Certificates of conformity and manufacturer data sheets are available on request.
