Ready-made door kits

Done for you. No hassle.

Every kit includes pre-cut strips and the rail to hang them from, so most installations need only basic tools. Most first-time buyers should start here.

Put it together yourself

Choose your rail, then choose your strips.

Not every doorway suits a standard kit. Every individual strip comes ready fitted with its stainless steel hanging plate, so it hooks straight onto the rail: pick the rail for your opening, then as many strips as the doorway needs, in any mix of grades.

1

Choose your rail

The stainless steel suspension rail fixes above the opening and carries the strips. Join rails end to end for wider doorways.

Build your own completely

Rolls, hanging plates and rail.

For large, unusual or multiple doorways: buy the PVC by the 50 metre roll, cut your own strips, fit your own plates and hang them on our rail.

The three parts of a curtain

How to choose

Four steps to the right curtain.

Pick the grade for the environment, then the strip width for the opening and traffic, then the overlap for how well it needs to seal, then measure. If any answer is unclear, call us before you order.

  1. 1

    Choose the grade

The environment rules most options out: cold store, ESD-sensitive, food area or general warehouse.

  2. 2

    Choose the strip width

Match the strip to the opening height and whether it takes people, trolleys or forklifts.

  3. 3

    Choose the overlap

50% for internal pedestrian doors, 100% where it has to seal hard.

  4. 4

    Measure the opening

Width and height in millimetres, plus an allowance for how the rail is fixed.

Step 1 — Grade for the environment

Each grade is a different PVC formulation. Start here, because it removes most of the choice.

GradeBest forChoose it when
Standard clearPedestrian doors, internal partitions, general warehouseAmbient temperature and everyday traffic
Double-ribbedHigh-traffic doorways and loading baysYou want the ribs to take the scuffing instead of the face
Polar / freezerCold rooms, chillers and freezersStandard PVC would stiffen and crack in the cold
Anti-static, anti-insect, perforated, white and colouredStatic control, insects, airflow, screening and zoningYou need a specialist grade: these are sold as individual strips
Koolshield™ thermalCold stores where energy and condensation are the real costAn insulated panel rather than a PVC strip: a tested R-value, and no strips to drip

Ask us to confirm the specification for any formal requirement — cold-store temperature range, static dissipation or food contact.

Step 2 — Strip width and thickness

Wider, thicker strips hang straighter and seal taller openings. Narrower strips are easier to walk through.

StripBest forTypical opening
200 × 2 mmPeople and light trolley trafficInternal doors up to about 3 m
300 × 2 mmForklift and pallet traffic, taller openingsUp to about 4.5 m
400 × 4 mmLarge vehicle doors, high wind, external openings4.5 m and above

Our door kits are made in 200 × 2 and 300 × 2. For 400 × 4 openings, send us the door size and we will quote.

Step 3 — Overlap

Overlap is how much of each strip is covered by its neighbour. More overlap seals better, but uses more PVC and takes more effort to walk through.

OverlapSealingBest for
50% (standard)GoodInternal pedestrian and light-traffic doors at ambient temperature
100% (full)BestExternal doors, cold stores, windy locations and openings over about 3.5 m

Every door kit is priced for both, so you can compare before you order.

50% overlapHalf of each strip covered100% overlapTwo layers across the opening

Step 4 — Measure the opening

Measure the clear opening in millimetres, then add an allowance depending on how the rail is fixed.

Face-fixed (rail on the wall)Opening width + 100–150 mm, so it overhangs 50–100 mm each sideOpening height plus an allowance so the rail sits above the door

Strips should just skim the floor. New strips are often curled from the roll and straighten out over a few days once hung.

PVC strip or Koolshield™ thermal curtain?

On a cold-store doorway the question is not only what it costs to fit, but what it costs to run. PVC is the low-cost barrier; Koolshield is an insulated panel with a tested thermal performance, for doorways where energy and condensation are the problem worth solving.

Questions

Frequently asked.

What is included in a door kit?

Pre-cut PVC strips and a stainless steel hanging rail system, for the width, height and overlap you choose.

What width PVC strip do I need?

Use 200 mm for internal pedestrian doors up to about 3 m, 300 mm for forklift and pallet traffic or taller openings up to about 4.5 m, and 400 mm for very tall, external or high-wind openings. Our kits are made in 200 × 2 and 300 × 2; ask us about 400 mm.

Should I choose 50% or 100% overlap?

Choose 50% for internal pedestrian and light-traffic doors, and 100% for external doors, cold stores, windy locations and openings over about 3.5 m. Full overlap seals better but uses more PVC and takes more effort to walk through.

How do I measure my doorway?

Measure the clear opening width and height in millimetres. If the rail is fixed to the wall, add 100–150 mm to the width so the curtain overhangs 50–100 mm each side, and allow height for the rail above the opening. If the rail sits inside the opening, use the exact opening width.

Do PVC strip curtains save energy?

A well-fitted, well-maintained curtain with the right overlap meaningfully reduces the air exchange at a doorway, which is where the saving comes from. How much depends on the fit, the overlap and the condition of the strips: worn or gappy strips lose much of the benefit, which is why they are worth replacing.

What is polar or freezer grade PVC?

A low-temperature PVC formulation that stays flexible in chillers, cold rooms and freezers, where standard PVC stiffens and can crack. Tell us the temperature you are working at and we will confirm the right grade.

What is Koolshield and when is it worth it?

Koolshield is an insulated thermal curtain rather than a PVC strip curtain: 300 mm panels with an independently tested R-value of 0.936 m²K/W, rated −25 °C to +70 °C, and designed to avoid the condensation and icing that PVC strips can suffer in a cold doorway. It fits standard hook-on and locking rail systems, so it can replace a PVC curtain on an existing rail. It costs considerably more to buy, so it earns its place on cold-store and temperature-controlled doorways rather than on a general warehouse door.

Can I buy just the strips, or just the rail?

Yes. Individual strips come fitted with a hanging plate and are sold by length, and the stainless steel rail and hanging plate sets are sold separately, so you can build or repair a curtain piece by piece.

Can I fit it myself?

Yes. Fix the rail to a solid wall above the opening rather than to the door frame alone, hang each strip from its plate to your chosen overlap, and trim the strips so they just skim the floor.

How do I clean them?

Wipe both faces with a soft cloth, mild detergent and warm water, then rinse and dry. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach and strong solvents, which can cloud or degrade PVC.

When should I replace the strips?

Replace strips that have cracked or torn, especially at the top near the fixings, gone brittle, yellowed heavily or shifted so they no longer overlap correctly. You can replace individual strips rather than the whole curtain.

Why are new strips curled?

They have been rolled for storage and transport. Once hung they straighten out over a few days.
