Choosing a grade
| Grade | Choose it for | Typical uses |
|---|---|---|
| General purpose sheet | Rated −40 to +200 °C (230 °C intermittent), food-contact grade | Gaskets, seals, oven and hopper doors |
| High temperature sheet | Continuous service at 300 °C, intermittent to 315 °C | Heat sealing, dryers, heat treatment |
| Platinum-cured | No peroxide by-products, high tear strength, non-yellowing | Pharmaceutical, food and peristaltic pump tube |
| Flame retardant | Grades that meet UL 94 V-0, EN 45545-2 and BS 6853 | Rail interiors, electronics, enclosures |
| Metal detectable | Fragments show up on food-line metal detectors | Food and pharmaceutical processing seals |
| Closed-cell sponge | Seals uneven gaps with low closing force | Enclosure doors, lids, lighting |
Silicone reaches its top temperatures only with air present; in sealed, oxygen-starved joints the usable temperature is lower. Tell us the conditions and we will confirm the grade.

Standards
FDA 177.2600
Grades that meet FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 for repeated food contact.
EC 1935/2004
Food-contact grades for the UK and EU, commonly shown against BfR Recommendation XV.
WRAS
WRAS-approved silicone tube materials for hot and cold potable water.
UL 94 V-0
Flame-retardant sheet and foam grades, depending on grade and thickness.
EN 45545-2
Flame-retardant grades for rail fire, smoke and toxicity requirements.
Approvals belong to the material grade. Check the individual product, or ask us to confirm it covers your application.
What our customers say
Questions
General purpose grades are rated −40 °C to +200 °C, with short excursions to about 230 °C. High temperature grades run continuously at 300 °C. Silicone needs air to reach these limits, so tell us the continuous and peak temperatures and whether the joint is enclosed.
Yes. Grades are available that meet FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and EC 1935/2004, including platinum-cured and blue metal-detectable grades for food and pharmaceutical lines.
Yes. Send a DXF or PDF drawing, dimensions or a sample. We supply cut gaskets, strips and washers, plain or self-adhesive, and can join cord or extrusions into rings and frames.
Solid silicone suits gaskets under clamping load, pressure seals and wear. Closed-cell sponge seals uneven gaps with low closing force, such as enclosure doors, lids and light fittings. Sponge density sets how firm it feels.
Yes. Grades are available that meet UL 94 V-0 and rail fire standards such as EN 45545-2 and BS 6853, depending on grade and thickness. Tell us the standard and hazard level you need to meet.
Yes. WRAS-approved silicone tube grades are available for hot and cold potable water. Tell us the application so we can confirm the approval covers it.
Everything is supplied to order, so we quote each job individually, with lead times on the quote. Small batches and prototypes are welcome.
Certificates of conformity and material data sheets are available on request.
