Choosing and measuring
How to measure
A roll is 50 metres of PVC that you cut into strips, so the question is how much of it your doorway uses.
- 1Measure the clear opening width and height in millimetres.
- 2Face-fixing the rail to the wall? Add 100-150 mm to the width so the curtain overhangs 50-100 mm each side.
- 3At 50% overlap a 200 mm strip adds 100 mm of curtain width, so divide to get the strip count.
- 4Multiply the strip count by the drop, and add a little for trimming: that is the metres you need.
Which PVC do I need?
| You need | Best grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A general warehouse or workshop doorway | Clear standard | The everyday choice, -15 C to +50 C |
| A chiller, cold room or freezer | Clear polar / freezer | Stays flexible in the cold, where standard PVC stiffens |
| A busy forklift or pallet doorway | Clear ribbed | Ribs take the scuffing instead of the flat face |
| A cold doorway that also takes forklifts | Clear ribbed polar | Ribbed wear resistance in a freezer-grade PVC |
| To control static | Anti-static | Electrostatic dissipative, for electronics and cleanrooms |
| Airflow as well as a barrier | Perforated clear | Precision-cut holes let air through |
| To keep flying insects out | Yellow translucent | Yellow makes a doorway less attractive to flying insects |
| Privacy or a light block | Opaque white or black | White screens while passing light; black blocks it |
| To zone or mark a hazard | Red, blue or orange translucentThis product | Colour marks the route or the risk without blocking light |
Every roll is 50 metres. Tell us the door size and we will work out how many metres it takes.
Applications

Returns policyFrequently asked questions
How long is a roll?
Every roll in this range is 50 metres, in a choice of widths and thicknesses.
How much do I need for my doorway?
Work out the curtain width, divide by the width each strip adds at your overlap to get the strip count, then multiply by the drop. At 50% overlap a 200 mm strip adds 100 mm. Send us the opening size and we will confirm the metres.
Do I need plates and a rail as well?
Yes. Strips cut from a roll need a stainless steel hanging plate each and a suspension rail to hang from, both sold separately. If you would rather not cut and fit plates yourself, our door kits arrive pre-cut with the rail included.
What width and thickness should I choose?
As a guide, 200 x 2 mm suits pedestrian doors, 300 x 3 mm forklift doors and 400 x 4 mm large or high doors. Tell us the door size and traffic and we will confirm.
Standard or polar grade?
Choose polar for chillers, cold stores and freezers: it stays flexible in the cold, while standard PVC stiffens at low temperature.
Will it fit my hanging rail?
Our PVC is compatible with recognised curtain hanging systems. Hanging plates and rails are available to order alongside the roll.
How do I cut it?
Unroll on a clean flat surface, measure the drop, and cut square across the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. Allow a little extra so you can trim the strips to skim the floor once hung.
Do prices include VAT?
Prices are shown excluding VAT, with the price including VAT beneath. VAT is added at checkout.
